Located around 300 miles South of Malé, the Southern Atolls are the final surfing frontier of the Maldives.
It’s a remote territory, absolutely unspoiled and with hardly any crowd, with good surf at a number of spots on almost all of the outer islands. This is where you can find the largest amount of surf spots in the country and since they are exposed to the South, East and West, they are home to waves suitable for many different surfing levels
Deprived of any sort of tourist accommodation and only accessible by a two day trip in well equipped boats. Guests are picked up at Malé’s Internal Airport, following a 55 minute internal flight.
Some of the better known spots in Huvadhoo and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls include: Viligili (right) Beacons (right), Castaways (right), Blue Bowls (right), Five Islands (right), Two Ways (left), Love Charms (left), Tiger Stripes (left), among others.
Being heavily exposed to the southwest monsoon, this region works in the reverse season of North or Central Atolls, even though the waves are constant throughout the year.
The best conditions occur at the beginning of the year, Mid-March to Mid-April, restarting afterward by Mid-August until late October.
