About
The first Surf Trip organized by Takeoff to Sri Lanka is already planned! Destination: Arugam Bay — where to find some of the best in the country. Our host: Francisco Duarte - Portuguese surfer, living in Sri Lanka for several years, always well disposed, fan of a good conversation, knowledgeable like no other of the best spots and passionate about local culture. He will be our surf guide on this trip that promises to be epic!
Bay Vista Hotel
Sanctuary for surfers, in front of the Bay of Arugam. Managed by a family, it offers a welcoming service, with restaurant, yoga studio and rooftop to enjoy the view.
Hovedpunkt
A 15-minute walk from Bay Vista Hotel, is the largest and most powerful wave in Arugam Bay. On the best days it allows surfers of 600 meters, without comparison in Sri Lanka.
Surfing around
Right in the bay, there are Baby Point and Main Point. 20 minutes away, there's Whiskey Point. To the south, 30 min are Crocodile Rock and Peanut Farm. Driver available!

A famous beach
Arugam Bay beach gained notoriety thanks to surfing. It is among the 10 best spots in the world, stretches for about 2 km of golden sand and is shaped like a crescent.
Kumana National Park
The program could not fail to include a safari to one of the main national parks of Sri Lanka, famous for its biodiversity and wildlife, where elephants, monkeys and leopards await you.

Beach Restaurant
Facing the Indian Ocean and with the best selection of local and international dishes. From pasta to poké, through seafood, various curries, hamburgers and Thai soups, it's just a choice.
Rooftop cafe
It serves daily a variety of fresh salads, bowls, vegetarian desserts and, of course, good coffee. Not forgetting the tea. Tasty and healthy food is a way of life at these stops.
Kumana National Park
If you appreciate animal life, and birds in particular, this is a spot not to be missed. The park has more than 35 thousand hectares and is adjacent to the Yala National Park, another destination to take into account.
Historical heritage
In the vicinity of the hotel, you will also be able to immerse yourself in history and religion, visiting ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples. A trip that can also have its cultural charm.
The golden hour
To catch the sunrise and sunset, there is nothing like Arugam Bay. The best spots are Crocodile Rock in the morning and Elephant Rock at the end of the day. Ideal places for Instagram.
