Waves

The best waves for surfing

The Malé Atoms are divided into two regions: in the North Male Atoll, there are the best known and most consistent peaks of the Maldives; in the South Male Atoll, more protected from the waves, there are quality waves and no crowd. The Central Towers are a paradise to discover, less visited than the Male Atoms, but with high quality right and left. The South Atlas is the ultimate surfing frontier in the Maldives, a remote and unspoiled destination with excellent waves and spectacular scenery.

Tips

Some tips and material that we recommend

Surfboards

Take two to three plates, to be prepared for small days, medium days and bigger days or with more power.

Surfing material

You must wear ankle boots, long-sleeved spandex and a hat or helmet. Don't forget to bring repair kit, hot water wax and scraper, as well as leashes, ropes, keels, and keel wrenches, ideally in excess, as it's hard to find locally.

Sunscreen and sunglasses

Wear a high-quality, water-resistant, preferably reef-friendly SPF 50 sunscreen to protect the skin during long surfing sessions (solar radiation, at the Equator level, is particularly intense). Polarized sunglasses are also essential for days out of the water.

Plate Repair Kit

A small repair kit can save your day if there is any damage to your plate

Personal pharmacy

Take essential or commonly needed medicines (it may be difficult to find them at the destination), including insect repellent, quick dressings and painkillers. A cream to treat skin irritations can also be helpful.

Clothing

The climate is tropical, hot and humid, so you should wear light and breathable clothing, such as t-shirts, shorts, sundresses, swimsuits, bikinis and slippers. Don't forget to bring a light jersey for the cooler nights.

Documents and money

Do not forget the passport with a minimum validity of 6 months on the date of travel, the visa, if necessary, credit/debit cards and some money in US dollars, which are widely accepted.

Cameras and drones

To capture the epic waves and stunning scenery, a waterproof camera is a must. If you like to film with a drone, pay attention to the mandatory authorization that you will have to apply to the entity that governs air navigation in the Maldives.

Testimonials

Opinion of those who traveled
as takeoff

It was spectacular! I want to highlight the competence, friendliness and exceptional dedication of the crew - always available to help and with good disposition. Fayani was incredible: he knows the region deeply and knew how to recommend the best places and times to surf, taking into account the wave, tide and wind. He also had the sensitivity to understand the different levels of the group, ensuring that everyone got the most out of it. In addition to excellent guide, it was great company, making the trip even more special. To be remembered forever. 🙂 Thank you for everything!

It went very well. Etihad flights were comfortable and, on the way back, we were able to choose the seats for free. We really liked the guest house Season Paradise - we note the friendliness of the staff, who did everything to make the stay memorable. The environment was very pleasant and the diving and snorkeling activities were excellent. The beach was beautiful and the whole island exceeded our expectations. I didn't surf, but whoever did seemed very satisfied. 😃 A memorable trip! We count on your agency for future adventures.

Ângela Mesquita - Maldives, Season Paradise, August 2024

The experience was great! The airline had no delays and offered good food. The boat transfer was immediate and efficient. The guesthouse met expectations, with a super attentive team, and even adjusted the dinner to the request of the children. I loved the island and the interaction with the local population, always very receptive. The waves were amazing and the kids loved to surf the different peaks. The only problem was the lack of boards to rent, but I got one at the end and had fun on it!

Cristina Correia - Maldives, Season Paradise, July 2024

My stay was amazing! Franckie, the owner, is five stars, always attentive and available to guarantee a great experience and suggest activities on the island. Mathis, the surf guide, is generous and always present, as is the captain of Dhonis, also impeccable. Surfing has great potential and little crowd, and trips to the spots were fun, with the chance to catch fresh tuna. Meals, a delicious blend of French, Maldivian and Indian cuisine, offered fresh fish and local fruits every day. I recommend!
