Maldivian domestic flights: checked baggage rules

Maximum dimensions allowed for surfboard bags: 215 x 60 x 25 cm (length x width x thickness);

Within the 20 kg allowance, passengers may carry 1 checked bag and 1 bag containing up to 2 surfboards. If the weight limit is exceeded, a fee of USD 3.11 per additional kg, plus local taxes, will apply;

The number of surfboard bags allowed on each flight is limited, and transport is always subject to confirmation at check-in. Bags that cannot be accommodated on the passenger's flight will be sent on the next available flight. On the return journey, the surfboard bag may be sent on an earlier flight to ensure it arrives in Malé in time for your international flight check-in;

Prior notification of the exact dimensions of the surfboard bag to the airline is mandatory. Providing incorrect information will incur an additional fee of USD 100 plus local taxes (payable locally).

All programs include “Takeoff Surf” personal accident and travel assistance insurance, which provides coverage for accidents resulting from surfing.

This is a basic travel assistance policy that only provides coverage and assistance abroad. Given the nature of the trip and the destinations, we recommend the “Takeoff Surf VIP” insurance (available as an optional supplement), which offers higher assistance limits abroad and additional coverage for trip interruption.
