About

In front of the beach, a short distance from Galle, offering tranquility and refinement in a style of Portuguese and Dutch architecture of the 16th and 17th centuries. In surfing, it is close to the left of Koggala, for experienced surfers and almost always without crowd. Nearby, by car or tuk tuk, there are other spots to discover.

Hikkaduwa, Kabalana, Plantation and Mirissa are some of the best known spots in Sri Lanka and are nearby.

A demanding left

Koggala is a left wave that breaks in coral bottom and is suitable for experienced surfers, due to the strong currents. It has the advantage of never presenting a lot of crowd.

It is The Fortress's outdoor restaurant, located on the beach and oriented to those looking for fish and seafood with unique views of the ocean. Take the opportunity to accompany with a coconut water and do not miss the homemade ice cream.

Is there a stain?

Very close to the resort is the Eagles Catalina Golf Course, a 9-hole reversible golf course open from six in the morning.

Excursions for everyone

Leaving The Fortress, the excursion options are many: colonial town of Galle, trekking in the tropical forest, wildlife safaris, diving, whale and dolphin watching (from November to April), swimming with turtles, you just have to choose.

The program includes:

. Lisbon-Colombo-Lisbon flights, via Abu Dhabi, with Etihad Airways in economy class E, including checked baggage up to 25 kg (one suitcase and one board bag)

. Airport taxes (estimated value: €365)

. Private airport-hotel-airport transfer by minivan or similar vehicle

. Accommodation in the selected room type

. Bed and breakfast, half board (breakfast and dinner, drinks not included), full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner, drinks not included), or all-inclusive (breakfast, lunch and dinner, with selected drinks included)

. Minivan (or similar vehicle) with driver available during your stay for surf transfers and visits in the region between Hikkaduwa and Mirissa, up to 8 hours per day (driver's schedule)

. Free Wi-Fi

The program does not include:

. Booking fees (€20 per booking), Sri Lanka entry visa (to be applied for online by the customer, estimated value of 50 USD per person), excess baggage, gratuities, and any services not mentioned in the program.

. Overnight stay in Colombo, when necessary

Important Notes

Promotional rates are valid for stays between November 1 and December 22, 2025, and from January 7 to April 15, 2026, for bookings made and confirmed by October 30, 2025.

The program with a driver begins the day after arrival at the hotel and ends the day before departure.

Programs include economy class flights with Etihad Airways on the E fare. If the E fare is unavailable, supplements will apply based on flight availability.

An airfare supplement will be applied to the prices shown for July and August.

Insurance

All programs include “Takeoff Surf” personal accident and travel assistance insurance, which provides coverage for accidents resulting from surfing.

This is a basic travel assistance policy providing coverage and support only while abroad. Given the nature of this trip and the destinations, we recommend our “Takeoff Surf VIP” insurance (available as an optional supplement), which offers higher assistance limits and additional coverage in the event of trip interruption.
